About The Great Chefs Event:
The Great Chefs Event is an annual fundraising event that started in 2006 with Philadelphia's greatest chefs coming together to support Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation in the fight against childhood cancer. The 2010 Great Chefs Event sees the addition of more international great chefs – all to support Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research. The Great Chefs Event will be an evening reception, held on Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at Urban Outfitters, located at 5000 S. Broad Street in Philadelphia.
About Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation:
Alex's Lemonade Stand was founded in 2000 by then four-year-old Alex Scott, who, while struggling with neuroblastoma, an aggressive form of childhood cancer, held a simple lemonade stand in her front yard to help other children with cancer. What began as a small, grass roots effort has blossomed into an astounding nation-wide initiative, with thousands of stands held from coast to coast. At the time of her death at age eight, in August 2004, Alex's efforts had raised over one million dollars to cure the disease that took her life. Alex's legacy of courage and determination has inspired people the world over, resulting in over $30 million raised for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for childhood cancer research and over 100 research projects funded at hospitals across the United States.
